Is mayor of Gomel arrested?

Viktar Pilipets, the chairman of the Homel city executive committee, has been detained by law-enforcement officers.

TUT.BY has received this information from a source in the Homel city executive committee. The mayor is out of the office now, but municipal officials decline to give any official comments.

According to unofficial information, a possible reason for the arrest of the high-ranking official is the work of the utility services department, which allegedly allocated flats in Homel among “right people” and relatives.

There is no information about official charges against Viktar Pilipets.
