Lukashenka scares government and governors with resignation

Lukashenka held another meeting to discuss the harvesting campaign and warned the government, officials and governors they could be dismissed soon.

“You may consider this conversation to be the start of calling you to task. I've warned you last year and at the end of the year.  I am waiting, persuading and giving you tasks. But the time will come when you will have to take responsibility for your work. This time has already come,” Lukashenka said yesterday.

“It does not concern only the military officers. If you fail, you must answer, not cry. If governors fail, they must answer, if government members fail, they must answer. You see that some ministers resigned recently without noise and scandals,” he continued.

“Work, if you can work. Many thanks if you fulfill your tasks and show results. I treat you like my children, though many of you are of my age or older than me. I fall ill when I have to dismiss a minister or a governor. I remember it for a year and ask: How is this person? And that one? But I cannot do otherwise. Don't take offense. I cannot ruin everything due to my sympathy to someone. It's the same with governors. They are my people, I bear responsibility for them. But I will strongly demand them to do their work,” AFN quotes the dictator.
