Big fines and arrests for ”borshch from Yarmoshyna”

The activists of Zmena detained yesterday have been tried today in the Frunzienski court in Minsk. All of them were accused of participation in an unauthorized event.

Judge Ludzmila Lappo sentenced Zmena activist Ganna Kurlovich to a fine of 20 basic amounts (2 mln Belarusian rubles), the human rights center Viasna reports. Judge Dzmitry Lukashevich sentenced Aliaksandar Artsybashau to a 10-day arrest. Paval Vinagradau got a 12-day arrest: 7 days for the rally and 5 for having allegedly used foul language. Yagor Viniatski was sentenced to a 7-day arrest.

We remind that yesterday at the supermarket Frunzienski in Minsk activists of the youth organization Zmena were going to hold another rally to promote the boycott of the “elections”. The young people pretended to be giving away bowls of borshch. Soon after the beginning of the action, people in civilian rushed to the activists, beat them up and detained Aliaksandar Artsybashau, Paval Vinagradau, Yagor Viniatski and Ganna Kurlovich as well as several journalists. The journalists were released in a couple of hours. The young people had to spend the night in the jail in Akrestsina street.
