Here it comes again?

There is no foreign currency in exchange offices in Vitebsk.    

A reader from Vitebsk addressed the editorial office of charter97.org and complained that there was no foreign currency in the exchange offices. We called all the branch offices of the Belarusbank in the city and found out that there were really almost no USDs.

We addressed all the bank offices with one same question – if it was possible to buy several hundred dollars from the.

“There is little foreign currency left; people are actively buying everything up. If we have enough we’ll be able to serve you. If there are dollars – you’ll be able to buy whatever there is. If we don’t have any, you’ll not buy any”, - they told in the bank’s office №200/38.

“There are problems with dollars. Another client may come and take all that is left. So we can’t guarantee anything”, - they said in another office.

“We can’t promise. After the lunch they will bring three more thousand, if you manage to get here in time, you’ll buy it”, - they said in the office №200/91.

In the offices of other banks we were also told that they can’t promise to sell dollars to us – there may be no foreign currency.
