Forbidden prayer for a shot priest

Policemen in Lida did not allow to commemorate a Roman Catholic priest Adam Falkowski.

The tombstone is located in the city park. Members of the Polish Culture Society of LIda region gathered around it, Radio Svaboda reports.

According to the head of the Society Aliaksandr Kalyshka, they hardly lit the sacred light as three policemen in the uniform and one in mufti and with a video camera approached them. They said it was an illegal action and wrote down the names of the participants.

Kalyshka asked whether they could pray. The policemen responded negatively. Everyone went away after that.

The incident happened on Tuesday evening.

The Roman Catholic priest Adam Falkowski was shot for supporting the rebels of 1863.
