Uladzimir Yaromenak: I know my country and don't expect good surprises

A former political prisoner says he was ready for the worst before the trial.

Uladzimir Yaromenak spoke to charter97.org about the hearing of his appeal by the Minsk city court.

“The hearing took about 10 minutes. We then waited for the court to take a decision for 20 or 25 minutes. The previous court decision was upheld. They must tell me now when I will be sent to jail,” the Young Front activist said.

Uladzimir Yaromenak noted he still had opportunities to appeal against the court ruling.

“I can file an appeal to the Supreme Court, but the judgment took force today. I am waiting for being sent to jail. I feel good. I didn't expect the court to cancel the court decision, because I know my country. I know that if one was found guilty by a court of first instance, it's rare that he is acquitted or his case is reviewed. I was ready for the worst,” the former political prisoner added.

We remind that the Minsk city court upheld a 3-month jail sentence to Young Front activist Uladzimir Yaromenak.
