Vadzim Tsiarletski from Hrodna sentenced to 3 days in custody

Minsk's Kastrychnitski district court heard an administrative case against Hrodna-based activist Vadzim Tsiarletski.

He was detained on the evening of November 12 at the central railway station in Minsk, Viasna human rights centre reports.

The man came from Hrodna to Minsk in connection with the case of political prisoner Mikalai Autukhovich. He planned to return to Hrodna on the same day.

The police charged Tsiarletski with disorderly conduct and resisting a police officer (articles 17.1 and 23.4 of the Code of Administrative Offences respectively).

Tsiarletski spent the night before the trial in the detention facility in Akrestsin Street.

Judge Maksim Lapko didn't allow public to attend the hearing and held the trial behind closed doors. Only a lawyer was permitted to be present at the trial.

Tsiarletski was accused of disorderly conduct and sentenced to three days in custody. The judge found him not guilty of resisting a police officer.
