Trade union activist from Granit is ready to appeal to international court

An activist of the Belarusian Independent Trade Union Leanid Dubanosau will try to sue the enterprise for 6.5 million.

The trial is scheduled for 3 December. The reason for the moral compensation claim is the untimely notice of the non-prolongation of the labour contract. Luniniec district court accepted the appeal only from the second attempt, Radio Racyja reports.

Granit’s administration imposes the thought on the workers that the independent trade union keeps discrediting the enterprise and only the Federation of Trade Unions of Belarus protects the rights of workers.

The chairman of the independent trade union organization at Granit Aleh Stakhajevich is not surprised with such arguments:

- This is a psychological technique of the people, who do not acknowledge their fault. This trade union has long become administrative, protecting only the interests of the employer, not workers. This is the weakness of comprehension, corridor thinking instead of suggesting an alternative, and there has always been an alternative, the alternative has existed for 20 year embodied in the independent trade union. World practice shows that competition is always only for the better.

Leanid Dubanosau keeps simultaneously addressing higher juridical instance, in order to prove that he was fired illegally for his trade union affiliation. The activist is ready to appeal to an international court.
