Mechyslau Hryb: Kanaplou refused to share with someone

Even such loyal officials like Uladzimir Kanaplou can cause Lukashenka's discontent.

Mechyslau Hryb, the police general mayor and chairman of the Supreme Council of the 12th convocation, spoke to charter97.org about the detention of the former and current vice presidents of the National Olympic Committee.

“I know Uladzimir Kanaplou. We were members of the Supreme Council of the 13 convocation. We weren't friends. He was a friend of Lukashenka since childhood. I don't know about their relations now. As an MP, he didn't demonstrated many talents. His main ability was to support any proposal of Lukashenka as hard as he could. During the 1996 referendum, the parliamentary group Zhoda headed by Uladzimir Kanaplou blocked voting on the agreement signed by the president and the Supreme Council with participation of a representative of the Russian Federation. Kanaplou was running around talking on a mobile phone. He received instructions and ordered Zhoda members not to vote. He later fulfilled all orders as a friend and supporter [of Lukashenka]. I think he didn't turn attention whether the decisions and orders by the head of state comply with the country's laws. He had no hesitations. He will now get what he deserved. He was detained not for stealing, but for some speculations. It means he didn't share money with someone,” the politician is convinced.

He thinks the former chairman of the “house of representatives” was released because he agreed to help investigators.

“I think the dictator cannot have friends. He may have them when he needs, but the situation changes the next day and he doesn't need his yesterday's fellows any more. They can be jailed or, in better case, dismissed. We see that people work and do their service well, but found themselves dismissed one day. One may ask why do they work so zealously. I mean Batura. The ruler himself said he had worked well. Why did he dismiss him? He just became angry that Batura didn't remove garbage from the wood processing plant,” Mecyslau Hryb said.

We remind that the KGB carried out an inquiry into the case of Henadz Aliakseyenka, a member of the organising committee for the Ice Hockey World Championship, and Uladizmir Kanaplou, the head of the national handball federation. Both were detained three days ago. Kanaplou was released today. There's no information about Aliakseyenka.
