Baumgertner remains in Uralkali's Board of Directors

Uralkali's CEO, who remains in a Moscow detention facility, was elected to the company's board of directors.

An extraordinary general meeting of shareholders of Uralkali took place in Berezniki on November 29.

“Four independent non-executive directors re-joined the Board, including Alexander Voloshin, Sir Robert Margetts, Paul Ostling and Gordon Sage. The new Board also includes <>bAnton Averin, Vladislav Baumgertner, Viktor Belyakov, Pavel Grachev, and Anna Kolonchina,” the company informs in a press release.

Vladislav Baumgertner was detained in Minsk on August 26. He was charged with abuse of power and thrown into a jail. He was released a month later and placed under house arrest. Charges against him were specified. In late October, the period of investigation of the criminal case against Uralkali's CEO was extended for 2 months.

Moscow's Basmanny district court issued an arrest warrant for Baumgertner in absentia in October. On October 22, 2013, representatives of the Belarusian General Prosecutor's Office received a request for his extradition for prosecution after bilateral consultations.

Representative of the Russian authorities repeatedly demanded to extradite and release Vladislav Baumgertner.

He was extradited to Russia on November 21. He is in a pre-trial detention facility in Moscow.
