Meeting in memory of Yury Zakharanka to be held in Minsk

A meeting in memory of disappeared politician Yury Zakharanka will take place at 3 Chernyshevsky Street at 18: 00 on April 16.

Vital Rymasheuski, Aleh Vouchak, Andrei Klimau and other politicians and human rights defenders will take part in the gathering.

The audience will hear the story of Yury Zakharanka's life and political activity, the press service of the Belarusian Christian dmeocracy party reports.

People will be invited to sign Harry Pahanyaila's  petition to the prosecutor general demanding to punish the people guilty of the crime.

Yury Zakharanka disappeared on the evening of May 7, 1999. According to political migrant and former chief of detention facility No. 1 in Minsk, Aleh Alkayeu, Yury Zakharanka was abducted and killed on the order of the people close to Alyaksandr Lukashenka.

Zakharanka's family – his wife, two daughters and grandchildren – were granted political asylum in Germany and have been living there since 2000.
