Litesound demand to file criminal case for falsification at Eurofest

The band’s participants insist that the falsifications of the 2012 Eurofest competition results be investigated.

It is said so in the statement with Which Dzmitry and Uladzimir Karakins addressed Prosecutor General Aliaksandr Kaniuk on 17 April, BelaPAN reports.

The musicians remind that more than a year ago information was published about the falsifications of the results of the national TV project Eurofest. “Despite the fact that our right to represent the country at Eurovision-2012 in Baku was restored, we are the victims since illegal actions were performed towards us, - the statement says. – The persons, who falsified the results of the national selection round of the Eurofest project, committed forgery of documents and actions, which entailed significant harm to the rights and legitimate interests of citizens, state and public interests”.

“However, despite the wide publicity in national media that was given to the results of the investigation of the illegal actions, held by a special commission, there was no investigation in the framework of a criminal case”, - Karakin brothers emphasize. They ask Prosecutor General to file a criminal case according to the part 2 of the article 424 and part 1 of the article 427 of the Criminal Code (power abuse and forgery).

“We waited that they would deal with the situation, but no steps were taken. The case was slowed down, and we deem it outrageous. A serious crime was committed”, - Uladzimir Karakin claimed.

According to the musician, he and his brother are not sure that the appeal will have an effect, since various factors may have influence. “It is important for us to be heard, publicize this case and make people think”, - a Litesound band’s participant said.

According to the results of the falsified voting Alona Lanskaja took the first place at the Eurofest-2012. After an investigation the Litesound band was proclaimed the winner. Lanskaja will represent Belarus at Eurovision-2013.
