Human rights activist called out to KGB in Hrodna

Uladzimir Khilmanovich has been called out to KGB department for Hrodna region.

An employee of the special service, who introduced himself as Dauhikh, told that to the human rights and civic activist over the phone.

According to Uladzimir Khilmanovich, the KGB representative explained the reason for the call in the following way: “in the framework of the competence of the KGB department”. He also specified that a subpoena was issue for him to show up at 14 on 26 April, Radio Svaboda reports.

No one handed in the subpoena itself to the human rights activist.

Uladzimir Khilmanovich cannot say anything specific about the reasons for the call, but he has lately noticed the interest to himself on the part of special services. In particular, he was recently held on the border for several hours with no reason.

Another activist – Mikalaj Ulasevich from Astravec – was warned today by local policemen of the responsibility for holding unauthorized actions.

We would note that on the eve of large manifestations, held by Belarusian opposition, police and special services often detain well-known civic activists.

The traditional Charnobyl Way manifestation will take place today in Belarus’ capital. It is authorized by the city authorities. The gathering of participants is scheduled for 18.30 near the October cinema.
