Arrests in Homel city executive committee

An official and his associate are suspected of causing damage of more than one billion Belarusian rubles.

According to the KGB press service, the prosecution agency for the Homel region initiated a criminal case against the head of the construction and housing policy department of the Homel city executive committee and the director of a commercial firm on the base of the materials provided by the KGB.

The civil servant is suspected of violating article 428 of the Criminal Code (neglect of duties). His companion is suspected of violating part 3 of article 424 (abuse of power). The illegal alienation of the state property and its improper use caused more then one billion Belarusian rubles in damage to the Capital Construction Department of the Homel city executive committee.

The case has been sent to the Investigation Committee of Belarus for further investigation.

The chairman of the city executive committee, Viktar Pilipets, was arrested in Homel last year, on September 19, 2012, in the criminal case against officials of the Capital Construction Department of the Homel city executive committee.
