People forced to attend Belarusian pop star concert

Companies of the town of Hantsavichy were instructed to send people to a concert of singer Anna Sharkunova.

Directors of companies of the Hantsavichy district were ordered to ensure peresence of their employees at the concert and report to the cultural department of the district executive committee about the number of bought tickets for the concert of singer Anna Sharkunova. The concert is scheduled for June 13 in Hantsavichy.

Deputy chairman of the Hantsavichy district executive committee Siarhei Sarokau asked directors of companies to persuade their employyes to attend the concert, Hantsavitski Chas newspaper writes.

The instructions say:

“Anna Sharkunova plays a concert in the city Culture Centre at 18:00 on June 13. Tickets cost 40,000 rubels.

I ask for your assistance in sending a delegation of your employees to the concert in number pointed in the attachment.

Please provide the cultural department of the district executive committee (office 413) with the information about the tickets bought and confirm the presence of the delegation by June 11, 2013.

Hantsavichy authorities chose this old and reliable method of promoting culture.

Visiting concerts on order is not a rare thing in Belarus. Usually, students and employees of state companies are forced to attend cultural events.
