Satellite dishes will be dismantled by 1 July

Minsk residents receive bills with demands to dismantle satellite dishes before 1 July.

A blogger internautus posted a photograph of a bill, in which a housing company asks to “dismantle individual antennas before 01.07.2013”.

We would remind that on 21 May it became known that a ban was introduced on satellite television for the residents of apartments blocks. According to the Resolution on the conditions and procedure of installing individual antennas and constructions on the roofs and facades of multi-apartment buildings, adopted by the Council of Ministers on 16 May 2013, natural and legal persons are forbidden to individually install satellite equipment.

In order to install a satellite dish, a citizen (legal person) must address local authorities for permission and develop project documentation. Unauthorized installation of usual antennas and satellite dishes is now forbidden. If an antenna was installed before, permission for it must be obtained from a municipality. If the municipality refuses, the antenna will have to be removed and the building’s roof or facade put in the initial condition at citizen’s own expense.

There is a separate article in the Administrative Code “Violation of an architectural project of a building or construction”. According to the article, the fine of 200 thousand – 1.5 million roubles is provided for unauthorized installation of satellite or any other antennas on facades, balconies, loggias or roofs.

Around 100 residents of the Cascade apartment complex were the first to receive instruction on dismantling the satellite dishes.

By experts’ estimations, the number of satellite dishes in Belarus has exceeded half a million and keeps growing.
