Workers flee MAPID company

The company now has 120 vacancies.

Ivan Yancharski, the general director of MAPID construction company, noted the problem of personnel outflow. He made the statement at a seminar on residential construction and modernisation of the construction sector in Minsk, BelTA news agency reports. According to him, the departments specialising in utility systems and urban engineering faced the most difficult situation. The company has a deficit of installation workers and finishers.

The MAPID website has more than 120 vacancies. Steel fixers are offered 4.5 million rubles, concrete workers can earn 4—6.3mn rubles, tower crane operators – from 5.5 to 6.5 million rubles. The highest salaries (from 8 million rubles) are offered to manual metal arc welders. Assistant workers are promised only 2.5 million rubles.

MAPID company builds five types of apartment buildings. Each type has regulatory time limits for construction. The average time to construct a nine-story apartment block is 9—10 months. Higher tower blocks need 13 months. The company has produced 85 apartment blocks for the last 17 months. Seven buildings were completed behind the schedule. The main reasons were the lack of stable financing (acts on construction suspension for 1—2 months were made) and the absence of engineering and transport infrastructure .

In May 2013, the Investigation Committee initiated criminal cases against MAPID officials over corruption.

In April 2012, the Prosecutor General's Office arrested the deputy director on logistics support at StroiProgress test production of MAPID company.

Lukashenka criticised the construction sector for a high level of corruption at a meeting to discuss issues of residential construction in June.
