Milinkevich, Sannikov and Shushkevich will discuss the situation in Belarus

Prominent Belarusian opposition politicians arrived in Warsaw to attend a conference on the situation in Eastern Europe that began on July 15.

Hosted by the University of Warsaw, the four-day event addresses changes in ex-Communist countries and their economic, political and cultural transformation, said the press office of the Movement for Freedom.

A discussion on the situation and possible scenarios of changes in Belarus was scheduled to take place in the framework of the conference. Former presidential candidates Alyaksandr Milinkevich and Andrey Sannikov, as well as Stanislaw Shushkevich, Belarus’ first formal head of state and the leader of the Belarusian Social Democratic Hramada, and sociologist Andrey Vardamatski were expected to attend.

The conference had been organized by the university’s Center for East European Studies.
