Ministry of Justice didn’t understand BChD’s “nature”

Brest department of the Belarusian Christian Democracy party was denied registration.

The press-service of the organizational committee for the creation of the party Belarusian Christian Democracy has reported that the main justice department of the Brest region executive committee denied the public association Brest Christian Democrats official registration.

The refusal to register the organization was caused by the discrepancy in the name in the Belarusian and Russian languages.

Apart from that, at the justice department they believe that “the association’s name does not refer to the nature of its activities”. “Where the authorities found such references in the names Belaya Rus or BRYU, we do not get. Based on all abovementioned Brest officials concluded that the errors were impossible to eliminate and denied the registration. They did not find any more reasons for denial”, - the press-service reports.

The head of Brest Christian Democrats’ organizational committee Dzmitry Shukhraj considers the denial of registration predictable. “In today’s situation it is hard to imagine another scenario. At the same time it was interesting what reason the authorities would come up with, because all the documents had been prepared flawlessly”, - he said. The registration of regional public associations is a part of the BChD organizational committee’s strategy for the legal protection of their representatives. Documents for registration were submitted in a number of regions, but the justice departments took negative decisions in all the cases.
