Polatsk students sent to dairy farms

Students of Polatsk State University have been working on dairy farms in the Hlybokae district for the second week.

Students clean the territory, remove construction waste and try to lay bricks, the local website westki.info reports. “They don't sit idle,” farm workers say. “They are strong and full of energy. They have a cultural programme after working hours.” One team consists of 7-8 people.

Third-year students of Polatsk State University work on a farm in the village Obrub-Biarezvecsski together with construction workers of Hlybokae-based mobile mechanical division and employees of the Hlybokae plant of animal feed.

Students of vocational schools of Hlybokae performed reconstruction works on the farms Aziarki and Sialtsy in summer. In autumn, students pick beetroot and other vegetables they grow in the school garden. The school head Valiantsina Shynkevich says 75 students help the farms Zalataya Padkova and Haradzets to pick potatoes and carrots.

The authorities use students and employees with higher education (teachers, employees of the cultural and public sectors) to compensate for the lack of agricultural workers. People regard it as disrespect, but don't dare protest fearing revenge.
