Concert of Vaitsiushkevich banned in Minsk

Minsk authorities banned a solo concert of Dzmitry Vaitsiushkevich at MAZ Palace of Culture.

Department on ideology and culture of Minsk City Executive Committee did not give the permission to the concert of Dzmitry Baitsiushkevich, planned on January 12 at MAZ Palace of Culture, tuzin.fm writes.

It was assumed that the artist together with the WZ-orkiestra would hold a big presentation of the poems "Varanok" by Henadz Buraukin, published in 2013. Ideologues tabled the decision to issue a certificate for the tour as best they could. Typically the organizer gains admittance within five days, but he may be asked to provide additional papers related to the show and to continue to consider the documents one more week.

"They have had three weeks to read the texts of my songs!" Dzmitry Vaitsiushkevich says. As a result the organizers were denied on the grounds they did not have the contract with a concert venue. By the way, according to the guidelines for applications, such a treaty at the concerts of Belarusian performers may not be presented.

One of the concert organizers Vital Supranovich said that they had had a contract with the MAZ Palace of Culture, but at the last moment it should have been adopted to changes in financial conditions. At that time, they got the refusal to hold the concert. Directorate of the MAZ Palace of Culture itself sent a letter to Minsk City Executive Committee, where it was written that the contract between the directorate and the organizers of the concert was not signed at that moment.

"Things haven't budged an inch", Dzmitry Vaitsiushkevich stated disappointedly.

Before that he had two performances failed in Belarus. On the initiative of local ideologues the concert in Vitsebsk Philharmonic Hall was abolished and none of the concert venues in Brest to deal with the artist in disgrace.

"I've got used to prohibitions, though, of course, have not put up with them. I clearly understand that the ideologues have their own code, which they are standing for, but my work does not carry any threat, and I have not violated their code!" Vaitsiushkevich, appeared on the list of banned artist after the elections in 2010, says.

Since then for the first time he legally appeared on stage at the presentation of the project "Re: Pesniary" in September 2014, and on October 29 he held his solo concert, allowed by the authorities, in Minsk.
