Brest region villagers countered riot policemen’s attack at their fellow village dweller

People blocked the way for policemen.

The accident took place in the village of Stradech, Brest region, on May 9, 2014. At about 7 p.m. a traffic police car drove into the yard of one of the village dwellers. The policeman told that he had arrived to confiscate the self-made tractor owned by the villager. The man didn’t agree to that, and he called to his relatives and friends, for them to come and help in defending his property. After a while quite a lot of people gathered there, as the news is spread immediately, Virtualny Brest writes.

“On May 9, 2014, during the holiday, a traffic police car drove into the yard. The policeman told that he was going to confiscate the self-made tractor. We didn’t agree, as there were no reasons for confiscation. The tractor was in the garage, it does not appear in the streets, it is a hobby. It is sometimes used in his own farmstead,” a resident of the village said.

When the traffic policeman was addressed “Hey you”, he found he was insulted, and grabbed the clothes of the villager. A quarrel started. Another man tried to come between them, to separate the two men fighting. After everybody calmed down a little, the traffic policeman rang and asked for reinforcement. Policemen arrived, as well as three riot policemen.

They wanted to detain the two men and take them to a police department, however village dwellers defended them as one, by blocking the way by their cars, thus it was impossible to leave the place. The tough negotiation continued until the midnight. Policemen exchanged calls with their superiors all the time, probably asking what to do. A tow truck was invited to remove the cars blocking the exit road, but children and people immediately packed these cars, and it is prohibited to tow such cars.

Village people claim that a gun was almost pulled from the holster for a moment, a threat was uttered, but it impressed no one, people were enraged, and game for extreme measures.

They broke even finally. No one was arrested, the tractor remained in the garage of the owner. On such terms dwellers deblocked the way and let the traffic police car drive away. Now they file appeals against actions of traffic policemen, villagers are going to defend their position and do not want to give up. Why the truck was attempted to be seized on holiday? The owner says that it was outside in the morning, and someone from authorities noticed it passing by, and the order was given to find out what was happening and seize it. It is really a wonderful tractor, it could not be compared to those made at factories. There is really no registration certificate for it, and no number plate.
