9 May in Brest: Russian flags and Stalin’s portraits

34

The meeting dedicated to Victory Day was held in Brest Fortress.

The majority of its participants were employees of Brest enterprises, schoolchildren and students, who had been gathered to the event by quota letters. After an hour at the meeting with their friend and colleagues, many left and went to eat shashlyk and drink alcohol, Belsat TV channel reports.

The leadership of the region and the city delivered speeches traditionally, then they laid flowers.

The main difference of the today’s celebration of Victory Day is considerably reduced number of “St. George’s ribbons”. They were mostly carried by Russian citizens who arrived to the holiday. They have brought their national tricoloured flags and even the flag of Moscow. Guestst from Russia greatly differ from local citizens, as their speech is unusual for these places, their behavior and the ribbons attached are uncommon.

Local Communists have brought a portrait of Stalin to the meeting.
