Russian General Prosecutor's Office terminated case against Vladislav Baumgertner

Russia terminated the criminal case against the former director general of Uralkali.

Earlier, Vladislav Baumgertner was released on RUB15 million bail, according to TASS.

The Prosecutor General of Belarus Aliaksandr Kaniuk stated that. The Prosecutor General stated that "this does not mean that there cannot be run claims for damages." "The very fact of the criminal case termination against Vladislav Baumgertner does not mean that in civil proceedings one cannot file lawsuits", Kaniuk stated.

In the near future the Belarusian side will hold talks with Russia's General Prosecutor's Office, where it plans to discuss the issue on damages reparation for the "potash case".

On October 8the Basman Court of Moscow reported that Russian and Belarusian criminal cases against the former head of the Uralkali were united. The former Director was charged under Art. 33 para 3 and Art. 201 para 2 (Organizational crime, grave abuse of power).

It should be reminded that Vladislav Baumgertner was arrested in Minsk in August 2013 on charges of abuse of power. On 22 November that year he was extradited to Russia and placed to a remand prison, in December he was placed under house arrest, and in October 2014 was released on RUB15 million bail. At the end of last year, the Board of Directors of the Uralkali dismissed Vladislav Baumgertner from the Director General, and in 2014, he left the Board itself.

Aliaksandr Lukashenka stated that the damage caused by natural persons - former employees of the Uralkali - was about $100 million.
