Donald Tusk: The EU prepares sanctions against Russia

The ceasefire is not honoured.

The European Union has prepared new sanctions against Russia and should be prepared to impose them if the situation in Donbas does not improve. Donald Tusk, the President of the European Council, stated that in the European Parliament, Correspondent reports with reference to the site of the Council of Europe.

"Additional sanctions remain on the table". We must be prepared for any possible scenario, both good and bad. The country-members of the European Union are unanimous in this issue and will continue their policy", Tusk said.

According to him, the ceasefire in Donbas, which should have come into effect at midnight on February 15, has been violated more than 800 times.

"Debates among EU leaders are focused on how to support the implementation of a new peace agreement. If it does not happen, we will confidently have to take necessary measures" he noted.

Tusk stressed that the EU still hopes for peace so that the independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine would be restored as soon as possible.

It should be reminded that the United States have already prepared new sanctions against Russia, which will enter into force, if actions requiring a response continue".

Earlier David Cameron, British Prime-Minister, stated that Russia's illegal actions in Ukraine took another level.
