Niaklaeu launches movement For Statehood and Independence of Belarus

Poet, former presidential candidate, political prisoner and ex-head of Tell the Truth campaign Uladzimir Niaklaeu creates a new nationwide movement.

The politician said it to Radio Svaboda.

“The movement is titled For Statehood and Independence of Belarus. I work on it almost every day. I must say that my predictions were true – we have scared and passive society. Maybe those who tell me it's not a time for launching big movements are right. There can be a time to create a new religion, and there can be a time when it is impossible. I am sure that we cannot wait for a good time. We see a clear threat to our independence. Lukashenka's words that he has forces to cope with any enemy 'who dares encroach on a plot of Belarusian land' are just words. The country does not have forces, we don't have national forces able to defend Belarus,” Niaklaeu said.
