In court Sentsov predicts collapse of Putin’s Russia

The Ukrainian filmmaker stated that Putin’s regime cannot last forever.

During another session of the court in the trumped-up case of the Ukrainian filmmaker Oleg Sentsov, who is illegally detained in a Russian remand prison, he stated that Putin’s regime cannot last forever.

The video reportage with Sentsov’s speech at the court was published on May 6 by Youtube channel of Grani.Ru.

In the beginning of the reportage Sentsov was demanded to treat the court of the aggressor country with respect, and to address “You Honour” when speaking to the judge, which evoked a smile on the face of the citizen of Ukraine, obozrevatel.com writes.

“I believe that the Russian Federation had illegally annexed the Crimea, illegally detained me, transferred me to the Russian court and is trying me unlawfully,” Sentsov said at the court.

As said by him, by its actions Russia had smirched itself in the eyes of Ukrainians, and especially Crimean dwellers.

“I feel ashamed that I am 100% Russian myself (my parents are from the Urals). I am simply a citizen of Ukraine, I love my country…. And I love Russia… It’s such a pity that such things are happening now in this country, in our countries and in this court room. I really hope that sooner or later the regime which exists in your (the judge started to interrupt Sentsov – editorial office) will come to an end,” the filmmaker said.

He also sarcastically said his arrest, which was timed to the arrival of Russian president Vladimir Putin to the occupied Crimea on May 9, was acted out so pretentiously.

We remind that Oleg Sentsov is a Ukrainian filmmaker, who was a Maidan activist, openly supporting the unity of Ukraine and helped Ukrainian military in the Crimea during the annexation. In May 2014 he was arrested by the Federal Security Service of Russia (FSB). Now the filmmaker is detained in Lefortovo prison in Moscow. He is charged with terrorism. Sentsov faces 20 years of deprivation of freedom.
