Suspect in graffiti case: “They try to put pressure on me through my pregnant girlfriend”
Yaraslau Ulyanenkau

Yaraslau Ulyanenkau, 32, is the only one who was set free after arrests in connection with the so called graffiti case.

He told Nasha Niva newspaper today that unknown people visited his girlfriend.

“They pressed on me after the arrest and said they knew about my pregnant girlfriend. They said they knew she lived in Mahilou.

Two men in plain clothes tried to get inside her flat at 14:30 yesterday. They then were waiting for her in the yard and in the park.

The same people came today at 9:30. Nobody opened the door for them. It's clear that they were not collecting signatures for candidates.

I think they try to put psychological pressure on my girlfriend. They want her to persuade me to give evidence and turn in the guys. But I don't have people to turn in,” he said.

Yaraslau Ulyanenkau is a suspect in the criminal case over a series of patriotic graffiti that “disturb the peace and express disregard of society”. The graffiti read “Belarus must be Belarusian”. Three more men were arrested.
