Entrepreneurs Curtail Business In Belarus

Over the past 12 months the number of legal entities in Belarus has decreased by 2.1%, the number of sole traders – by 6.5%.

On April 1, 2016, 141.9 thousand legal entities operated in Belarus (including 116.3 thousand Commercial organizations), the number of individual sole traders amounted to 252.1 thousand, BelaPAN reports with reference to the National Statistics Committee.

The number of legal entities decreased by 2.1% compared with the data of April 1, 2015, at 1 January 2016 – increased by 0.2%; the number of sole traders declined by 6.5 and 1.3%, respectively.

The largest number of legal entities located in Minsk – 49.491 (for the year their number has decreased by 0.8%). 26.234 legal entities operated in Minsk region (2.2% decrease), 14.583 (1.6%) – in Brest region, 14.067 (2.1%) – in Homel region, 13.535 (7.1%) – in Vitsebsk region, 12.227 (1.6%) – in Mahiliou region, 11.727 (2%) – in Hrodna region.

The greatest number of sole traders was also in Minsk – 79.747 (for the year their number has decreased by 7.2%). There were 37.301 sole traders in Minsk region (1.9% decrease), 33.520 (5.5%) – in Brest region, 27.436 (5.5%) – in Homel region, 27.919 (7.6%) – in Hrodna region, 23.604 (12.8%) – in Vitsebsk region, 23.607 (5.7%) – in Mahiliou region.

The proportion of companies with the state share and the state form of ownership was 12.9% in the total number of organizations (on April 1, 2015 – 12.7%).

Out of 141.9 thousand of operative organizations 33.7 thousand (23.8% of the total) carried out activities in the field of production, 108.2 thousand (76.2%) – in the services sector.
