Independent journalists not allowed to visit harvest festival

The authorities have been hindering the work of reporters at the harvest festival for the second year.

A number of photo correspondents for independent and foreign news agencies have been denied accreditation to cover the harvest festival held on September 21-22  in the town of Horki, Nasha Niva newspaper informs.

Nasha Niva photo correspondent Syarhei Hudzilin, Syarhei Hryts (The Associated Presss), Tatyana Zyankovich (EPA) and Viktar Drachou (AFP) are reported to have been deprived of the opportunity to cover the festival. The list probably has other names.

This is not the first case when journalists have faced restrictions at the harvest festival. Last year, people with cameras and camcorders with lenses longer than 4 cm were barred from entering the festival territory in Maladzechna.
