Man in T-shirt “For Belarus without dictatorship” detained in Minsk

A memorial procession to Loshytsa district took part in Minsk on November 10 to mark Dziady, the day of commemoration of the dead. The police detained a participant of the march.

About 70 people took part in the procession organised by the Conservative Christian Party Belarusian Popular Front headed by Zianon Pazniak.

Plainclothes policemen and security officers were watching the event. One of the participants, resident of Stoubtsy Leanid Smouzh wearing a T-shirt with the slogan “For Belarus without dictatorship”, was detained.

Leanid Smouzh said in an interview with Radio Svaboda before the march that he didn't belong to any political party.

The man said he wore the T-shirt “For Belarus without dictatorship” to protest against injustice – he cannot find a job for the last few years.
