Borisovdrev workers punished for failure of modernisation

Salaries were reduced after a scandalous visit of the Belarusian ruler.

Workers of Borisovdrev wood processing plant were deprived of bonus payments. Charter97.org learnt it from a reader with a reference to the plant's workers. He noted workers were going to protest against the salary cuts.

“All workers were deprived of bonuses and salaries were reduced after Lukashenka's visit to the plant. They can receive 2-3 million rubles now. They lay the blame on workers, not on managers. It was a small protest for an hour on Friday. People are going to increase the time of protests,” the reader says.

There are no comments from Borisovdrev's management.

As recently reported, pupils of the 9th-11th grades of secondary school No. 6 in Barysau were sent to clean up the area of the scandalous plant, according to several sources. Those who are late for classes are forced to work at the plant compulsory.

A year ago, Lukashenka ordered to complete the modernisation of the country's biggest wood processing plant by November 7, 2013. He visited the enterprise on November 8, but changed the planned route, went to see the production facilities and found “flagrant mismanagement”. He ordered to open criminal cases and promised to jail some officials. Minsk region governor Barys Batura, deputy head of the president's administration Andrei Tur, head of Bellesbumprom group of companies Aliaksandr Peraslautsau, general director of Construction Trust No. 21 Mikalai Busalau and director of Institute BorisovProject Aliaksandr Misiyuk were dismissed. Several high-ranking officials received reprimands.
