Activist arrested in Hrodna for leaflets about political prisoners

Police detained a member of Belarusian Christian Democracy Siarhej Vierameenka in Hrodna.

The chairman of the local BChD organization Mikalaj Bausiuk reported about that to the human rights center Viasna.

Siarhej Vierameenka was heading to the party office in Burdzejnaha street with a bag of leaflets. He was stopped at the entrance by two people in mufti, who introduced themselves as policemen.

Vierameenka was detained with his fellow party members witnessing and taken to a police station. There were leaflets with a text supporting the political prisoners in the detainee’s bag. BChD members were going to distribute them in the framework of the solidarity campaign “Send a letter to a political prisoner”.
