Lukashenka offers to negotiate with terrorists

The dictator believes the government of Ukraine must negotiate with DPR and LPR militants.

Aliaksandr Lukashenka told in his interview to Bloomberg L.P., President's press-service reports.

I'm the third party and I know what: how would I behave if I were in Ukraine's leader shoes? You know, the human life is much more valuable than any conflicts, territorial claims and so on. For the sake of people's lives, not to let them die, I would negotiate with any. And contacts with current leaders of DPR and LPR cannot be avoided", he said.

Aliaksandr Lukashenka is convinced that the parties in conflict in Ukraine should sit down at the negotiating table.

"If you ask point-blank the so-called DPR and LPR "where do you want to be?" they will say they want to be in Ukraine. I am sure that both citizens and their leaders do not want all that has happened with Crimea. Absolutely. So what else? Knowing that it is your land and people there want to live in Ukraine, why not take steps to the negotiating table?! It is first".

The dictator believes the government of Ukraine must amend the Constitution.

"The second. Everyone understands Ukraine needs some changes. And they are not possible without amendments to the Constitution. Someone says about federalization, autonomy, and the Ukrainian government says about decentralization. Let's regularize these absolutely understandable and necessary directions in the Constitution of Ukraine. Decentralization – ok. If these territories claim to be recognized with a certain status, let's do this and the war is over. We will restore these territories. It will come all right in the end, if we want peace and integrity in Ukraine.

So there are a number of steps to be taken - to sit down at the negotiating table with them. The negotiation topic is clear. The Constitution should be amended. And they should go to the border of Ukraine and Russia and close it. By the way, Russia is not against it," he said.

The dictator believes there are no Russian troops in Ukraine.

"The Russians are not so stupid to send troops there and lay themselves open". "There are enough people, good military specialists with certain trainings who want to go there to fight. And to be in Donbas for money or due to their idealogical reasons", the leader of Belarus said. - There are thousands of those who arrived from Russia. And not only from Russia. I know that some people from Belarus fight there for money. But it is wrong to accuse Russia of regular army there", he said.

Lukashenka also mentioned that Russia's President Vladimir Putin did not intend to restore the Empire.

"The West believe he [Putin] wants to restore an Empire. He is a different person. He will not strive for restoration of an Empire. But if someone does not watch his steps and threatens Russia and even brandishes a stick, then even Putin, the Russian mentality, will respond. Therefore one needs to be careful with Russia. Putin does not have a desire to seize something. He is a modern man and understands it is very dangerous to behave this way now," he declared.

"Now the Russian leadership has never raised an issue on Belarus to be a part of Russia. There were some, you know, hints in the past, иге they were terminated. We were and are a sovereign, independent state. And it will remain", he emphasized.
