Politologists: Belarusian dictator follows in Hitler’s footsteps

Politologists noticed a parallel between the Belarusian National People’s Congress and meetings in Nazi Germany.

The 4th Belarusian National People’s Congress is held in Minsk on December 6–7, two weeks prior the presidential elections. The issues on the agenda are the results of implementation of the Social and Economic Development Programme for 2006–2010 and key points of the Social and Economic Development Programme for 2011–2015.

Politologist Uladzimir Matskevich told in an interview to BelSat TV he had doubts whether such congresses are able to influence the further development of the country. “Such a phenomenon cannot be seen in any democratic country. It’s impossible. There are special representative institutions providing communication between the authorities and citizens.”

The politologists compares the Belarusian National People’s Congress with meetings in Cuba. “Such meetings show ostensible interaction between Castro and people: one person is speaking and the people are listening to him,” Uladzimir Matskevich says. “Hitler held similar congresses too; he created special architecture for those forums.”

Uladzimir Matskevich criticized the practice of “seeking advice from people”. “People who cannot say anything are invited. Random or specially selected people, who will listen in silence and applause to any suggestion of the authorities are called,” the politologist added.
