Application for holding “Chernobyl Way” submitted

An application for holding a traditional “Chernobyl Way” on April 26 has been submitted to Minsk city executive committee.

As BelaPAN was informed by one of the applicants for the rally, an executive secretary of the organizing committee for creation of the Belarusian Christian Democracy party Dzyanis Sadouski, the application was filed on April 4 in the evening.

“On Friday, April 1, a session of the organizing committee for holding the Chernobyl Way was held. We worked out the final format of the rally. It is traditional: we’ll meet at the spot near the Academy of Sciences at 5.45 p.m., at 6.30 p.m. the march in the direction of Chernobyl chapel to the Friendship of Nations Park begins, and a little meeting will be held after the march,” Sadouski said.

Besides Sadouski, the application was signed by the chairman of the organizing committee for holding the Chernobyl Way, Yury Khadyka, and one of the leaders of businessmen movement Mikalai Pakhabau.

“We are ready to negotiate the approval of the procedure for conduct of the march and meeting with Minsk city executive committee. If the number of participants would be less then 5,000, we will lead the demonstrators’ column along pedestrians’ area,” Sadouski said.
