Gomselmash works a four-day week

Some employees have not been paid out salary for February.

For a few months already Gomselmash has been facing serious problems. Workers inform charter97.org.

"We are given an order to sign that on April 3, 10, 17 and 25 we take a leave with a 2/3 of salary or make out downtime with appearance at work. According to the Labor Code it is the same 2/3. Salaries for February were paid out only at 11:48 pm on March 31 and not for everybody. Some employees have to go on an unpaid leave", a Gomselmash employee said.

Dismissals at the enterprise have started in the beginning of the year. The company's management does not consider them to be massive and relates them to the modernization program.

More than a hundred workers have been laid off since the beginning of the year. For the enterprise with 9 500 staff the number is non-critical. Another thing is that the layoffs are sustainable. Part of workers has not had their contracts extended.

It should be reminded that the crisis has continued at Belarusian largest agricultural engineering enterprises for a year already. Recently the enterprise's debt of about Br5.1 trillion has been announced, and in February Gomselmash officially accepted a three-day work week.

This situation is observed not at the Gomselmash only. In particular, the presidium of the Belarusian Trade Union of Workers of Industrial Complex announced that the Belarusian industrial enterprises dismissed more than 10. 000 people. Such industrial giants as JSC Atlant, JSC MAZ, JSC Minsk motor plant and Borisov plant Avtogydrousilitel have had more dismissals than others. About 173 enterprises were inspected and 1184 violations of the Labour Code were revealed.
