November 2, the day of on Dziady (the day when Belarusians commemorate their deceased forefathers), ambassadors of European countries and of the US visited the the Kurapaty memorial site. Diplomats from Poland, Latvia, Slovakia, France, Sweden, Malta and the US gathered at the place of mass executions. First they took part in the Holy Mass near the Belarusian Martyrs’ Cross, laid flowers and lit candles near the so-called Belarusian Golgotha.

16:56 Halloween participants sentenced to arrest. They go on hunger strike

Participants of Halloween celebration in Minsk are sentenced to arrests. Tatsyana Lashkarova was the first to get a term. The judge of Savetski district court of Minsk Ludmila Savastyan has sentenced the girl to 5 days of administrative arrest. Tatsyana said that the report of detention was not true. Young people were charged with petty hoolilganism. Their apperance alledgedly was " an outrage against public morality".

The court of Kastrychnitski district of Minsk ahs sentenced the applicant for holding the Social March Mikhail Pashkevich to 3 days of arrest. A young activist Mikalay Serhienka has been sentenced to 15 days of arrest by the court of Partyzanski district of Minsk. Judge Natalya Chatvyartkova believes that he had violated article 23.34 of the Administrative Code (violation of rules of mass events).

Volha Zavadskaya demanded from General Prosecutor to bring to responsibility the high-ranked officials of Belarus in the connection with the disappearance of her son, journalist Zmiter Zavadski, and missing opposition politicians.

Belarus has won the tender on modernization of 10 fighters Su-27 of Kazakhstan Air Force, “Interfax” reports. Complete overhaul and modernization of Kazakh fighters is to be held according to a project developed by Baranavichy aircraft repairing plant #558.

The authorities have lost the last rags of decency. Yesterday the chairman of the National Bank of Belarus Pyotr Prakapovich again scandalized Belarusians by the fantastic nature of the official statistic data. The chief banker of the country told without a trace of embarrassment that in January-September this year inflation reached 5.4%, or 0.6% a month. The question arises: maybe Prakapovich receives all food from a closed distribution network of the Soviet type, where all items in short supply were extremely cheap? What other explanation could be for his not knowing that prices for milk and meat have grown by 40% over these years (even Prime Minister Sidorski has admitted that). We are paying by 23.1% more for electricity and by 23% more for gas now. The utilities bills have gone up by 10.1%, public transport services by 15.1 per cent, taxi costs have grown by 20%, butter has become more expensive by 80%, and vegetable oil price has grown twice!

The Social March is to begin at the Academy of Sciences at 12 p.m. 4 November, - crisply said Valer Ukhnalou, deputy head of the Party of Communists Belarusian, head of the Social March organizing committee. On November 1 the Organizing Committee on Commemoration of Stalin repressions victims, the Union of Belarusian Writers, the Belarusian Helsinki Committee has sent a proposal to rehabilitate a well-known Bearusian poet Larysa Heniyush (Heniusz).

Recently Ambassadors of the EU countries invited co-chairmen of the United democratic forces for a meeting on October 30. It was enough to call two oppositional politicians to make a camera of the state Belarusian TV keep vigil outside the building of French Embassy. 9:04 Applicant for Social March Detained

Today morning one of the applicants for holding the Social March, a youth leader Mikhail Pashkevich, and activists Dzmitry Kavalgin and Mikalay Serhienka have been detained. At 7.12 a.m. a short message was received from Pashkevich. The place and the reason of detention wasn’t stated in the message. There was no news from Mikhail since then.

This March Belarus abolished 16 out of 38 restrictions that hindered from bilateral relations between Belarus and Russia, head of the office of access to foreign markets of the trade negotiations department of Russia’s Ministry for Economic Development Veronika Nikishina told “Interfax.”

October 31 Vitsiebsk district court sentenced three more participants of the action dedicated to the Day of Fathers’ Memory Dziady to a fine. The action held October 30 was initiated by the city organization of the Conservative Christian Party - Belarusian People’s Front.
